AmaGroup is a global conglomerate of social enterprises, with a purpose driven mission to fight climate change, poverty and deforestation working on regenerative economy through development of environmental products and services, thus, helping the world transition to a more sustainable economy for present and future generations.
AmaGroup is a visionary organization that has been making a positive impact on our world since 2008. One of its social enterprises, EBCF (Brazilian Rainforest Conservation Company), is committed to promoting environmental services through Nature-based solutions in the Amazon Rainforest region. EBCF plays a critical role in the health of the planet and the well-being of communities around the Amazon Rainforest by conserving its forests and developing its communities.
EBCF's approach to environmental services is multi-faceted and impactful. By protecting forests from deforestation and degradation, EBCF helps to mitigate climate change by maintaining their ability to sequester carbon and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, the conservation of forests helps protect biodiversity and promote regenerative agriculture practices that enhance ecosystem health. Forest conservation also provides economic benefits to local communities, such as ecotourism, sustainable timber harvesting, and non-timber forest products, promoting regenerative economic development that benefits both people and the environment. EBCF is also committed to supporting social and environmental justice by recognizing the rights of Indigenous peoples, who are often the stewards of forest ecosystems, and supporting their traditional knowledge and practices, promoting environmental services that are more equitable and inclusive.
Overall, EBCF's efforts are integral to creating a more sustainable economy for present and future generations, while also promoting social and environmental responsibility.
At EBCF, we are committed to promoting environmental services through a unique approach to land management in the Amazon Rainforest. Our goal is to create a "mosaic" of Private Reserves for Sustainable Development (RPDS) combined with protected native forests, to promote the conservation of forests, reduce CO2 emissions, and foster the sustainable development of local indigenous and traditional communities.
To achieve this goal, EBCF acquires and manages private properties in the Amazon Rainforest, transforming them into RPDSs that generate measurable and audited social-environmental and climate positive impact. Our first-ever Private Reserve for Sustainable Development, RPDS AMAZON RIO, is located in the city of Manicorรฉ, Amazonas State - Brazil, and covers approximately 20,000 hectares. The creation of this reserve is a key milestone in our mission to promote sustainable land management practices that support the well-being of local communities and the health of our planet.
We are proud to provide transparent documentation of our reserve creation process, which can be accessed through our website. EBCF is committed to creating a positive impact through our land management practices, and we are excited to continue expanding our RPDS network in the Amazon Rainforest region to achieve our mission of promoting environmental services and sustainable development.
At AmaGroup, we recognize the potential of new technologies to drive positive change in the world, particularly when it comes to addressing global challenges like climate change, poverty, and deforestation. That's why we launched AmaTech Ventures Labs in 2021, in partnership with some of the world's top universities, including Cambridge University, Imperial College of London, Birmingham City, and many others.
AmaTech is an innovation center located in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest, designed to incubate and accelerate innovative tech projects, IOTs, and scientific research. Our mission is to bring technology to the Amazon using our own reserves and communities as an open lab for sustainable research and technology development.
Through AmaTech, we are creating a catalyst for Amazon Rainforest tech and science innovation. Our goal is to develop new technologies for monitoring, enhancing the quality of life for local communities, reducing CO2 emissions, developing digital twins of the forest and communities, and even using the metaverse for climate conferences and other utilities.
We believe that by combining the power of cutting-edge technology with the expertise of our team and partners, we can drive positive change in the world and create a more sustainable future for all. At AmaTech Ventures Labs, we are committed to making this vision a reality.
For the past 15 years, AmaGroup has been working tirelessly on the ground in the Amazon Rainforest to address six key impact pillars that align with up to 15 of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Through our work in sustainable land use, forest conservation, sustainable development of local communities, education and awareness, and technology and innovation, we have been able to make a positive impact on the environment and the lives of those living in the region.
Our efforts have not only helped to reduce deforestation and carbon emissions but have also created economic opportunities for local communities and promoted social and environmental justice.
We are proud of the progress we have made so far, and we remain committed to continuing our work to achieve our mission of fighting climate change, poverty, and deforestation and promoting a more sustainable future for all.
Environmental
Designed to manage and monitor our mosaic of private areas and reserves, using satellite systems, drones, on the ground monitoring as well as biodiversity inventories and IoT technologies to monitor it.
Nowadays, EBCF owns and manages the largest mosaic of Private Reserves ever created in the Amazon Rainforest history (double the size the city of Paris).
Social
Designed to promote the sustainable development of local indigenous and traditional communities supported by the group, implementing and managing programs and projects in areas such as health, education, income generation, infrastructure, and women empowerment.
EBCF supports 15 local indigenous and traditional communities with more than 1.000 families.
Climate
Designed to implement projects related to CO2 emissions reduction and certify its carbon credits within the world's most credible standards such as, but not limited to, Verra and Gold Standards.
EBCF has a CO2 emissions reduction project (REDD+) registered under VERRA's standard with VCS + CCB certifications. It's a 36 years certified project (2013 - 2039) generating approximately 3 million tons of carbon credits.
Economic
Designed to generate multiple, sustainable revenue streams focusing on the conservation of the forest and the sustainable development of its local communities. including but not limited to carbon credits, sustainable harvesting of non-timber products (aรงai berries, Brazil nuts, essential oils, etc), eco-tourism and scientific research.
Technology
Designed to support, incubate and accelerate projects coming from universities (mostly from Ph.D. and MBA courses), R&D centers, and startups, focusing on tech innovation for fighting climate change, poverty, and deforestation.
Governance
Our governance strategies are designed to integrate ESG factors, promote accountability, transparency, and engagement with stakeholders, as well as integrate risk management processes and ensure strong leadership commitments are embedded into the organization's culture and decision-making processes.
MetAmazonia inc., is a company of AmaGroup that aims to create a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform using blockchain technology to bring transparency and efficiency to the management of AmaGroup's green assets, including its reserves and carbon credits. The platform will allow investors to invest in sustainable projects in the Amazon Rainforest and earn a return on investment while contributing to environmental and social impact.
MetAmazonia's ultimate goal is to become a hub for regenerative finance (ReFi) in the Amazon Rainforest, promoting sustainable economic development while preserving and protecting the environment. It will be powered by Web3 technologies, including blockchain, smart contracts, and decentralized applications (dApps).
Through MetAmazonia, AmaGroup aims to leverage the power of decentralized finance to attract more investors and scale up its impact in the Amazon Rainforest, ultimately achieving its goal of protecting and conserving 5 million hectares of land (an area equals the size of Switzerland), supporting 100,000 local indigenous and traditional families, and avoiding the emissions of 500 million tons of CO2 to the atmosphere.
